Benue State Faces Cholera Outbreak
Benue State has reported four deaths from suspected cholera cases. Dr. Henry Ijabo, the State Epidemiologist, confirmed this development to journalists on Thursday. According to Dr. Ijabo, 16 suspected cases of cholera have been recorded across three local government areas: Agatu, Otukpo, and Ado.
Symptoms and Suspected Cases
Dr. Ijabo clarified, “The deaths are from suspected cases. We do not have confirmed cholera cases in Benue yet. Out of the 16 suspected cases, four individuals exhibited symptoms consistent with cholera but passed away before confirmation.”
Ongoing Investigation
The epidemiologist emphasized that the investigation into these cases is still ongoing. He added that the symptoms displayed by the affected individuals align with those of cholera, but definitive confirmation is pending.
Health Officials on High Alert
Efforts are underway to identify and confirm the presence of cholera in the state, with health officials closely monitoring the situation to prevent further spread. They are working diligently to ensure the safety of residents.
