FG Pledges Full Support for NPA to Boost Eastern Ports

The Federal Government (FG) has pledges full support to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in addressing the challenges leading to the underutilization of ports and other national assets in the eastern part of Nigeria. This commitment was articulated by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, during a ceremony in Rivers State where a 4.8km road “D” project and Marine crafts were commissioned at the Onne Complex.

Minister Oyetola emphasized that the newly constructed road infrastructure and mooring boats are part of the ministry’s efforts to harness the full potential of the maritime sector. These developments reflect the government’s determination to optimize opportunities and improve efficiency within the maritime industry.

Additionally, the deployment of six mooring boats demonstrates the government’s commitment to maritime security. Minister Oyetola emphasized the importance of investing in port infrastructure, citing ongoing projects like reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts across various ports.

Furthermore, Managing Director of NPA, Mohammed Bello-Koko, lauded the government’s steadfast support in revitalizing ports in the region. He highlighted the significance of Phase 4B houses within the Onne Port Complex, noting their substantial contribution to the untapped potentials of the area.

Moreover, the collaborative efforts between the Federal Government, NPA, and other stakeholders underscore a collective commitment to improving port infrastructure, enhancing operational efficiency, and unlocking the economic potentials of Nigeria’s maritime sector. These initiatives are crucial steps towards fostering growth, competitiveness, and sustainability in the nation’s maritime industry.
