Nollywood Actor Junior Pope Odonwodo: All You Need to Know

Birth and Origin

Pope Obumneme Odonwodo popularly known as Junior Pope is a Nollywood actor, model and a philanthropist. He was born on 7th May 1984 in Bamenda, Cameroon to Mr. And Mrs. Luke Odonwodo. He hails from Ukehe tribe of Enugu State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. But he grew up in Cameroon .

Education and Career

He completed both his primary & secondary school education in Cameroon before relocating to Nigeria. After his college he went further to University of Nigeria Nsukka Enugu State and graduated with a degree in Accountancy. In 2006 he joined Nollywood and acted in many movies.

He always plays the role of guard and servant. In 2007 he rose to fame after acting in the blockbuster movie “Secret Adventures” directed by Tchidi Chikere. According to him, it was the award winning movie director “Tchidi Chikere” that brought him to limelight.

He has acted in over 100 movies which include Secret Adventures, Mad s3x, Bitter Generation, Vengeance of Bullet, etc. In 2010 he won the award for Nollywood Most Promising Actor in Nigeria at the Entertainment Factory Awards.

Married Life

On 26th July 2014 Junior Pope got married to Jennifer Awele Okpuno and the couples are blessed with three boys.

His Death

Ironically, he died while filming a movie titled, ‘The Other Side Of Life.’ as he with other colleagues of his were crossing the Niger river. Following his death, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (A.G.N) declared April 11 ‘No shooting day.’ The Guild also placed an indefinite ban on shooting in riverine areas and boat riding, and bared actors from acting in any movie to be produced by Adanma Luke, the producer of the ill-fated movie, ‘The Other Side Of Life.’

Awards by Junior Pope

Apart from his film career, Junior Pope actively engages with fans on social media, offering glimpses into his life. His humility and commitment to acting have earned him numerous accolades, such as the Nollywood Most Promising Actor Award in 2010. Additionally, he has won Best Supporting Actor at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (A.M.V.C.A) and Best Actor of the Year at the Africa Movie Academy (A.M.A) Awards.
