ACF Calls for Immediate Action on Economic Hardship

The pan-northern socio-political organisation, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has called for immediate action. They stressed that the difficulties faced by the average Nigerian citizen have reached an unbearable level. The ACF highlighted that inflation, unemployment, and a rapid decline in living standards are major challenges.

Additionally, ongoing issues of insurgency, terrorism, and banditry continue to plague the nation. The ACF pointed out that these problems are exacerbating the already dire situation for many Nigerians. Immediate action is needed to address these critical issues.

Moreover, the ACF urged the government to take concrete steps to alleviate these challenges. They emphasized that failure to act swiftly could result in further deterioration of living conditions. The situation demands urgent and effective intervention to restore stability.

Warning of National Chaos

The ACF warned of potential chaos from fuel subsidy removal, as it calls on Nigerians to pray for divine intervention. The forum emphasised the escalating economic strain on citizens and called for immediate measures to alleviate these burdens.

Federal Government’s Role

After a National Executive Council meeting in Kaduna, the ACF blamed widespread hardship on new taxes and levies by the Federal Government. They emphasised the need for urgent solutions to mitigate the economic challenges faced by the populace.

Call for Prudent Financial Management

The ACF’s National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tukur Muhammad-Baba, issued a communique urging collective prayers for government action on economic difficulties. The ACF also calls on government officials to avoid reckless spending of public funds and focus on more prudent financial management.

Rising Insecurity Concerns

The communique expressed deep concern over increasing insecurity in northern regions, citing political, social, and economic challenges in those areas. They warned that, if unchecked, these issues could cause widespread dissatisfaction and unrest, significantly threatening national stability.
