Abia State Emerges from 24-Year Decline

Relief in Abia State

Abia State has found relief after a prolonged 24-year decline, according to the Obi of Onitsha, HRH Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe. On Friday, while inaugurating three newly reconstructed roads—Old Court Road, Ehi Road, and Kent Road—Igwe Achebe praised Governor Alex Otti for bringing significant changes to the state.

Governor Otti’s Impact

Governor Alex Otti, hailed as God-sent, has initiated vital infrastructure projects in Abia State. The Obi of Onitsha noted that Aba, once a leading business hub, has seen remarkable improvements since Otti took office a year ago. By God’s grace, these positive changes are expected to continue throughout his tenure.

Community Support Urged

Igwe Achebe urged the residents to support Governor Otti in delivering the benefits of democracy. During the event, Otti expressed his commitment to infrastructure development, revealing that his decision to reconstruct the roads came after careful inspections. He shared his satisfaction with the progress made in just three months.

Future Development Plans

Governor Otti announced plans to transform Enyimba Hotels Aba into a five-star hotel and convention centre. These initiatives aim to elevate Aba to one of Nigeria’s premier cities. The governor emphasised the importance of the government working effectively for its people and thanked the contractor and state labour agency for their efforts.

Road Inauguration Details

State Commissioner for Works, Otumchere Otti, provided details about the road projects. Old Court Road measures 561 metres, while Kent Road stretches for 1.2 kilometres. Both roads feature drainage systems and solar-powered streetlights, enhancing safety and usability.

Collaboration for State Progress

Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, assured the public of a strong working relationship with Governor Otti for the state’s benefit. This collaboration aims to maintain the momentum of progress and ensure sustained development in Abia.
