Governor Yahaya Provides Vehicles for Gombe LG Chairmen

Governor Provides Local Governance with New Vehicles

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, provides brand-new Toyota Hilux vehicles to the 11 local government chairmen. This move, announced on Wednesday, aims to enhance the operational efficiency of local governments in the state.

Ceremony at Government House

At a brief ceremony held at Government House in Gombe, Governor Yahaya reiterated his administration’s commitment to grassroots development. He emphasised that the vehicles would support local government operations, not for personal use.

Purpose of the Vehicles

Yahaya stated, “These vehicles are not for leisure or luxury; they are for work.” He urged the chairmen to utilise the vehicles to reach every part of their local governments, ensuring effective service delivery to the people.

Governor’s Assurance

Governor Yahaya assured continuous monitoring of resource utilisation. “We shall not waver in monitoring how you spend your resources as well as how you implement projects that positively impact your people,” he affirmed.

Local Government’s Role

Highlighting the importance of local governments, Yahaya said, “The state government alone cannot do it all. The constitution allocates functions to local governments, which are the closest to the people.”

Acknowledgement from Chairmen

The Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Abdulkadir Muhammad, expressed gratitude to the governor for his consistent support. Sani Haruna, Chairman of Gombe LGA, assured on behalf of his colleagues that they would use the vehicles effectively to achieve the administration’s goals.

By providing these vehicles, Governor Yahaya aims to strengthen the local governments’ ability to serve their communities better, demonstrating a commitment to transparency and accountable governance.
