Kidnapped Abia Children Rescued, Suspects Arrested

Swift Rescue Operation

The Abia State Police Command has successfully rescued three children, Gideon Osinachi (8), Obioma Osinachi (6), and Israel Osinachi (4), siblings who were kidnapped by an unknown motorcyclist in May. The incident occurred in Amoba Okoro village in the Ikwuanno Local Government Area of the state, by a motorcyclist alleged to be hired by the children’s grandmother.

Children Found in Anambra and Delta States

State Public Relations Officer Maureen Chinaka disclosed that the police found the children in Anambra and Delta states. The rescue operations involving significant collaboration, extensive investigatory efforts, and tireless work by the police, took place from May 10 to June 13, leading to the location and rescue of the kids

Suspects Arrested

Chinaka stated that the police arrested five suspects in connection with the crime and apprehended them at various locations, including Amawbia and Nkpor in Anambra State and Warri in Delta State. The police will soon charge the suspects, who are now in custody.

Collaboration Among Stakeholders

The successful rescue operation was a result of collaboration among various stakeholders. The Mayor of Ikwuano LGA, Mr. Osinachi Nwaka, and Abia State Homeland Security played crucial roles in the operation. Chinaka expressed gratitude for their support and emphasised the importance of community cooperation in ensuring safety.

Public Advised to Be Vigilant

Chinaka advised the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of children. She highlighted the importance of being security-conscious and urged citizens to report any suspicious activities promptly to the authorities.
