Former Minister and Security Chief Arrested in Benin Coup Plot
Authorities in Benin arrested three men, including ex-sports minister Oswald Homeky, for allegedly planning a coup against President Patrice Talon. Authorities reportedly caught Homeky handing six bags of money to Col Djimon Dieudonne Tevoedjre, head of the Republican Guard. Investigators revealed that the bribe aimed to persuade Col Tevoedjre not to resist the coup. The arrests occurred just days before the alleged coup was set to unfold in the West African nation.

Also among those arrested is businessman Olivier Boko, a close associate of President Talon who had recently hinted at political ambitions. Boko’s supporters have condemned his detention, calling it an “abduction” and demanding his immediate release.
