Enugu, Nigeria – March 15, 2025 – Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State has signed a landmark Executive Order designating and establishing the Enugu International Motor Spare Parts and Allied Traders Park in Nsude, Udi Local Government Area (LGA), and Ogwofia Owa, Ezeagu LGA. This move officially relocates the decades-old Coal Camp Spare Parts Market and other allied trades within the Enugu Capital Territory to a state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility along the Enugu-Onitsha Road.
The signing ceremony, held on Friday at the Government House and attended by the state’s Attorney General, Dr. Kingsley Udeh, and leaders of the Enugu Motor Spare Parts Dealers Association, marks a transformative step toward fulfilling long-standing promises to traders. For years, the traders have awaited a modern market that meets international standards, a commitment Governor Mbah has now delivered.
“This move is essentially about transformation,” Governor Mbah stated during the ceremony. “For decades, our traders have been promised a modern market, but those promises remained unfulfilled. Today, we are changing that story.” He emphasized that the new site, strategically located along the Enugu-Onitsha Road, is designed as a commercial hub to ensure a safe, well-organized, and sustainable environment for business.
The Enugu International Motor Spare Parts and Allied Traders Park is equipped with infrastructure, including clinics, fire services, truck parks, warehouses, ample parking spaces, and modern residential areas. Traders will have the opportunity to own their shops outright, eliminating the burden of rent and fostering long-term economic stability. The park will also feature smart schools, healthcare centers, a police station, and recreational spaces, creating a self-contained business community.
Governor Mbah highlighted that this relocation is part of Enugu State’s broader vision to drive economic growth and strengthen the emerging 9th Mile business corridor. “As we push forward with developing the park, we hope that in the coming months, traders will transition seamlessly into a thriving, self-contained business community,” he said. The initiative aligns with the state’s ambitious goal of growing its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from $4.4 billion to $30 billion over the next four to eight years, positioning Enugu as a key economic powerhouse in Nigeria.
Chief Michael Nomeh, leader of the Enugu Motor Spare Parts Dealers Association, expressed gratitude for the governor’s commitment, noting, “Since the inception of democracy in 1999, there have been so many promises to relocate us to an international market. We thank Governor Mbah for fulfilling this campaign promise.”
The relocation addresses longstanding challenges posed by the Coal Camp Spare Parts Market, including congestion and safety concerns, while boosting trade and investment opportunities. The Enugu State Investment Development Authority has praised the move, describing it as a strategic step toward fostering sustainable growth, innovation, and prosperity for the region.
As preparations continue for the transition of traders to the new facility, Governor Mbah called for continued support from stakeholders to ensure the project’s success. “Tomorrow is here,” he declared, underscoring his administration’s focus on infrastructure development, economic empowerment, and citizen welfare.
The Executive Order, titled “Designation and Establishment of the Enugu International Motor Spare Parts and Allied Traders Park, Nsude, Udi LGA and Ogwofia Owa in Ezeagu LGA and the Relocation of the Coal Camp Neighborhood and other Neighbourhoods in the Enugu Capital Territory,” was signed into effect on March 14, 2025, signaling a new era of economic progress for Enugu State.
