Despite the rain, the event saw enthusiastic participation, showcasing the resilience and spirit of the young attendees. The festivities included a parade that prominently featured physically and mentally challenged pupils, underscoring the community’s commitment to inclusivity.
Addressing Needs of Special Education
During the event, it was highlighted that certain institutions catering to visually impaired and mentally challenged pupils are in urgent need of support. In response, the Governor has directed the Commissioner for Education to establish a dedicated secondary school for these students. This new institution will offer a tailored curriculum designed to meet the unique educational needs of children with special requirements.

The Governor reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to providing high-quality and comprehensive education for all children in Abia. Drawing from personal experience, the Governor emphasized the transformative power of education and the administration’s resolve to ensure that every child can succeed and become a future leader. To support this vision, 20% of the state’s annual budget has been allocated to the educational sector.
