Dana Air Confirms Runway Incident

Dana Air confirms reports of a runway incident involving one of its aircraft, bearing registration number 5N BKI, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The airline, in a statement issued on Tuesday, expressed regret over the incident, which occurred during the morning hours.

Dana Air confirmed an incident with an aircraft en route from Abuja to Lagos, experiencing a runway incursion during landing. Despite the concerning situation, the airline emphasized that there were no casualties among the 83 passengers and crew onboard. Dana Air promptly informed both the Accident Investigation Bureau and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority about the incident.

“We are relieved to confirm that all 83 passengers and crew onboard the flight disembarked safely without injuries or scare as the crew handled the situation with utmost professionalism,” the statement read.

Furthermore, the airline assured the public that the grounded aircraft is undergoing thorough investigation by its maintenance team, in collaboration. Dana Air expressed gratitude to airport authorities and its crew for their swift response in ensuring passengers’ safety.

“We wish to thank the airport authorities, and our crew for their very swift response in ensuring the safe disembarkation of all passengers following the incident,” the statement continued. “Our sincere apologies and appreciation to the passengers on the affected flight for their patience and understanding.”

This recent incident revives memories of a January 2018 occurrence when another Dana Air aircraft brushed against a fence. Fortunately, that incident also resulted in no injuries, though it raised concerns regarding pilot error.

Dana Air reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety and pledged cooperation with authorities to investigate both incidents thoroughly.
