Detained Binance Executive: Wife Appeals to President Tinubu

Family Raises Concerns Over 200-Day Detention

The family of Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance executive detained in Nigeria, has raised serious concerns about his prolonged detention, which has now reached 200 days. Gambaryan, a U.S. citizen and head of financial crimes compliance at Binance, was arrested in February on charges of laundering over $35 million and engaging in unlicensed financial activities.

Public Plea for Immediate Release

His wife, Yuki Gambaryan, issued a heartfelt public appeal on Friday for his immediate and unconditional release. “Two hundred days ago, my husband, an innocent American citizen, traveled to Nigeria for a meeting he was invited to by the Nigerian government. Since then, he has been unlawfully detained under increasingly inhumane and degrading conditions,” she stated.

Call to President Tinubu and U.S. Government

“I beg President Tinubu to do the right thing and order Tigran’s immediate and unconditional release,” she added. Mrs. Gambaryan also called on the U.S. government to take urgent action, describing the situation as disgraceful and demanding swift intervention.

Health Concerns Amid Denied Medical Care

Despite multiple attempts to secure bail on medical grounds, Gambaryan remains incarcerated in Kuje Prison. He is reportedly suffering from a herniated disc and has been denied adequate medical care, including access to a wheelchair. “His health is deteriorating due to the lack of proper medical attention,” Mrs. Gambaryan emphasized.

Legal Proceedings Adjourned

The court has adjourned Gambaryan’s case until October 9, leaving his family in prolonged uncertainty. Legal representatives are working diligently to secure his release, but the path forward remains challenging amid the legal and bureaucratic hurdles.
