The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, revealed that Emirates Airline is poised to resume operations in Nigeria on or before June 2024. Keyamo made this announcement during an interview on Arise Television on Monday, underscoring the significant role played by President Bola Tinubu in resolving the discord between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Keyamo highlighted that the Nigerian government and the UAE have successfully addressed the pertinent issues. Consequently, paving the way for Emirates Airline to announce the date for its inaugural flight. He disclosed that the airline had conveyed its readiness to recommence flight operations in Nigeria via a formal letter.
“Emirates flight resumption is almost happening. I just received a letter from Emirates. They have gone through all the gamut, and they are ready to come back. They will announce the date because to restart a route, they have to get an aircraft for that route,” Keyamo stated.
Emirates Airline attributed the decision to suspend flight operations to Nigeria in October 2022 to challenges in repatriating funds. However, with the recent developments and diplomatic efforts spearheaded by President Tinubu, both parties have reached an agreement, facilitating the anticipated resumption of Emirates flights to Nigeria.
