The Kajuru Station community in Kaduna State faced a harrowing attack recently, with bandits reportedly abducting eighty-seven people. This incident unfolded just after another abduction where 14 individuals were taken by bandits from Dogon Noma community, both within the Kajuru Local Government Area. The bandits not only abducted people but also plundered shops and houses in the community, causing widespread distress. This escalating insecurity terrifies the people as attacks become frequent and successful.
The timing of this attack, occurring on Sunday night following the previous day’s kidnapping, underscores the escalating insecurity in the region. Although the police in Kaduna State have not officially confirmed the latest incident, Ibrahim Gajere, the Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, provided details to Channels Television. He expressed deep concern over the frequent attacks, noting that they have instilled fear and panic among the residents.
Kajuru and Chikun, Kaduna’s local government areas, faced many violent attacks, including the abduction of 287 students from Chikun. Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa assured Governor Uba Sani of ongoing rescue efforts.
General Musa emphasized the determination of the military and security agencies to apprehend those responsible for the kidnappings and attacks in Kaduna and the North West zone.
He expressed solidarity with the affected communities and stressed that the challenges were temporary, with efforts underway to ensure the safety and swift release of the hostages.
Governor Uba Sani reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to enhancing security in impacted regions. He also recognized the assistance from the military and police.
