Fire Incident Diverts Flights at Murtala Muhammed Airport

The Federal Airport Authority (FAAN) has swiftly responded to a fire incident at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1, as it diverts flights to the D wing. The fire outbreak, which originated from the E wing of the airport at approximately 5:29 am on Thursday, prompted immediate action from airport authorities.

According to a statement issued by Obiageli Orah, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, the situation initially began with the emergence of smoke from the E54 bridge, which quickly escalated into a fire. The sudden development caused concern among airport personnel and travelers, necessitating a coordinated response from FAAN.

In collaboration with the Airport Rescue and Firefighting Services (ARFFS) team, FAAN swiftly intervened to address the escalating situation. By 05:30 hrs, the ARFFS team was on-site, actively working to contain the fire outbreak. By 06:41 hrs, the diligent efforts of FAAN and the ARFFS team culminated in successfully bringing the fire under control. Concurrently, airport personnel and passengers initiated measures to ventilate the affected area to ensure safety and well-being.
