During the Oil Technology Conference in Houston, Texas, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele assured that fuel scarcity will be resolved. Bamidele expressed confidence in implementing legislative measures to address the issue.
Bamidele clarified Senate’s aim to grant more licenses to private-sector for refinery ownership, aiding smaller emerging refineries nationwide. Additionally, initiatives are in progress to refurbish existing refineries, including repairs and part replacements as needed.
He disclosed the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s confirmation of two refineries’ reactivation in Warri and Port Harcourt. Bamidele stressed the significance of licensing new refinery operators and rejuvenating existing facilities to enhance domestic oil production. The emphasis is on adhering to OPEC quotas and ensuring energy security for the nation.
