High Marks for Governance
As Governor Alex Otti marked one year in office, the Awareness Forum for Abia Development and Economic Advancement (AFA) praised his governance, declaring him as a symbol of good governance in Nigeria. Additionally, the forum highlighted his achievements in infrastructure, economy, healthcare, education, and security.
Press Conference in Umuahia
Addressing the press in Umuahia, AFA Coordinator Prince Francis Ikenga commended Otti for his efforts in revitalising the Aba economy and developing the Abia Industrial and Innovation Park. He also noted Otti’s dedication to budget allocation, timely salary payments, and non-discriminatory principles.
Recognition of Achievements
Prince Ikenga stated, “In recognition of these achievements in 366 days, AFA is delighted with this government and hereby declares Governor Alex Otti as the ‘Symbol of Good Governance in Nigeria’.” This declaration was based on the significant progress made in various sectors under Otti’s leadership.
Economic and Social Transformation
AFA, an alliance of professionals and elites, aims to promote visionary and effective political leadership. The forum noted that Governor Otti’s leadership has driven positive change and growth in Abia State, setting it on a path to prosperity similar to that of the Asian Tigers.
Continued Commitment
The forum urged Governor Otti to maintain his developmental and governance efforts. Ikenga warned against complacency and emphasised the need for sustained development and economic advancement in Abia State.
Path to Prosperity
Ikenga concluded by comparing Otti’s governance to the successful models of South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. He highlighted the importance of good governance, transparency, accountability, and investment in small and medium-scale enterprises for Abia’s continued growth.
