Governor Otti Removes Chief Press Secretary
In a move that aligns with Abia State’s agenda for transformation, Governor Alex Otti has announced the removal of his Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko.The governor disclosed this decision on Wednesday during a State Executive Council Meeting. The meeting also highlighted other significant decisions made by the governor regarding the welfare of Abia students.
Support for Abia Students in India
In a move to support education, Governor Otti approved the payment of school fees for Abia students studying in India. The previous administration had abandoned these students, but this approval ensures they can continue their education without financial hindrances. This gesture underscores the governor’s commitment to the educational advancement of Abia’s youth.
Financial Aid for Law Students
Additionally, the governor approved the payment of school fees for 271 Abia students currently in Nigerian Law Schools. This financial support aims to alleviate the burden on these students and their families, ensuring they can focus on their studies and professional development.
Accreditation of ABSU Programs
The State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, announced that the governor has secured the accreditation of 19 programs for Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU). This accreditation is a significant step towards enhancing the quality of education and academic standards at the university.
Support for Football Academy
Governor Otti also directed the state Commissioner for Lands to process a Certificate of Occupancy for Frank Onyeka, an international footballer from Isuikwuato LGA, who plans to establish a football academy in the state.The initiative will promote sports development and provide opportunities for young talents in Abia.
New Chief Press Secretary Appointed
In the same announcement, Prince Kanu stated that the governor has appointed Njoku Ukoha Njoku as the new Chief Press Secretary, replacing Kazie Uko. This change is part of the governor’s efforts to ensure effective communication and media relations within his administration.
