Amidst the confusion, a Channels TV broadcast captured the tension while gunshots fired repeatedly. Allegations have surfaced that current Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, assisted in whisking Yahaya Bello away from the scene, preventing the EFCC from arresting the embattled former governor.
EFCC Issues Statement on Bello’s Arrest
Earlier in the day, the EFCC reaffirmed its pursuit of Bello on charges related to an N80.2 billion money laundering case. Despite rumours, the commission denied claims of already holding Bello in custody. Yahaya Bello’s media team countered, stating that the former governor had voluntarily visited the EFCC offices with Governor Ododo but was not interrogated.

Yahaya Bello’s media office has accused the EFCC of staging an assault on the Governor’s Lodge in an effort to arrest him by force.
