Deadly Night Raid on Malumfashi Chairman’s Home

A late-night attack by suspected gunmen on the residence of the Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government Area in Katsina State, Maharazu Dayi, has left a police officer dead. The assailants stormed the premises, attempting to gain access to the house, but security operatives intervened.

Police Officer Fatally Shot

During the attack, Police Corporal Shamsudeen Lawal, who was stationed at the residence for security, was shot by the assailants. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later confirmed dead. The incident has heightened concerns over security in the region.

Swift Police Response and Arrests

Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the attack, stating that law enforcement officers responded swiftly, leading to the arrest of three suspects. “Yes, the incident happened yesterday, but our men were mobilized to the scene. The officer was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead,” Sadiq said in a statement.

Gunmen’s Attempt Foiled

Although the attackers aimed to breach the premises, security forces successfully thwarted their entry. While it remains unclear if other residents sustained injuries, an eyewitness disclosed that Chairman Maharazu Dayi and his family were inside the house at the time of the incident. The police have intensified efforts to track down other suspects who may have fled the scene.
