House of Representatives Probes Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway Procurement Process

The House of Representatives has made a decision to examine the procurement procedure concerning the Lagos Calabar coastal highway. This course of action was prompted by the acceptance of a motion of urgent national significance introduced by Austine Achado (APC, Benue) during Thursday’s plenary session. Achado asserted in his motion that the contract’s allocation deviated from due process and lacked endorsement from the National Assembly.

Achado, in presenting the motion, emphasized the irregularities in the contract award process, highlighting the absence of proper authorization from the National Assembly. He underscored the importance of adhering to established protocols in government procurement to ensure transparency and accountability.

Following deliberations, the House reached a resolution to further investigate the matter. Consequently, the issue was referred to the House committees responsible for Procurement and Works. This decision indicates the House’s commitment to ensuring proper oversight and accountability in government projects.
