IPOB Partners with Local Security to Combat Crime in South-East

IPOB’s Stand Against Criminality

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime and insecurity in the South-East region. In a statement released on Monday by IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful, the group pledged to work with local security organizations to address the threat posed by criminal elements and killer herdsmen. IPOB declared its unwavering opposition to all forms of lawlessness, stressing its dedication to the safety of Igboland.

Politicians Blamed for Rising Insecurity

Emma Powerful accused South-East politicians of sponsoring criminal activities in the region. According to the statement, these political figures aim to undermine IPOB and its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, by creating unrest and associating it with the group. “Insecurity was introduced into Igboland as a tool to blackmail IPOB and pressure Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to abandon his quest for Biafra restoration,” Powerful alleged.

Clarifying ESN’s Role

The Eastern Security Network (ESN), established by IPOB in 2020, has faced accusations of contributing to insecurity in the region. However, IPOB maintains that these claims are baseless. “If ESN were responsible, why did insecurity in the South-East begin in 2022, two years after its creation?” the statement questioned. The group emphasized that ESN was formed solely to protect the region from external threats, particularly violent herdsmen.

Collaboration with Local Security Outfits

To tackle the surge in crime, IPOB expressed readiness to collaborate with local security forces. This partnership aims to expel criminal elements and restore peace to the South-East. IPOB urged residents and stakeholders to investigate the root causes of insecurity rather than falling for propaganda linking the group to criminality.

Reaffirming the Quest for Biafra

IPOB reiterated its commitment to achieving Biafran independence through peaceful means, including a United Nations-supervised referendum. The group criticized what it described as coordinated efforts by political and religious elites to thwart its mission. IPOB stated, “The Igbo race will never be subservient to any group or interest, no matter the cost.”

A Call for Justice and Security

As IPOB strengthens its resolve against criminality, the group called on the South-East community to support efforts to ensure justice and security in the region. By aligning with local security outfits, IPOB aims to demonstrate its dedication to protecting the lives and properties of the people while advancing its vision of Biafran self-determination.
