Troops of Operation Lake Sanity III, operating under Operation Hadin Kai, have have uncovered a bread factory concealed within an ISWAP hideout in Maiasani, Timbuktu Triangle, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.made a significant discovery in the fight against terrorism. The revelation came during an exploitation mission into the terrorists’ den by the combined troops of 199 Special Forces Battalion, in collaboration with Hybrid Forces and Civilian JTF (Joint Task Force), as revealed by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama.
The factory, uncovered amidst ongoing efforts to clear the region of terrorist strongholds, was swiftly destroyed by the troops. Among the items recovered were two Lister generating plants, a baking machine, and various baking materials. The discovery sheds light on the sophisticated operations of ISWAP in the region and underscores the importance of continued military operations to root out extremist groups from their hideouts. Despite the challenges posed by the complex terrain and fortified camps, the troops remain resolute in their mission to restore peace and security to the affected areas.
The report indicates that the discovery occurred during a week-long clearance operation designed to eradicate terrorist presence from the Timbuktu Triangle. This area includes Buk 1, 2, and 3, Talala, Ajigin, Dusula, Abulam, and Gorgi, known for hosting extremist factions.
“The majority of these terrorist factions are accountable for assaults, ambushes, and incidents involving IEDs/mines along various routes and areas such as Damboa, Askira, Buratai, and Buni Yadi. Additionally, they have targeted vital infrastructure like the high-tension transmission line linking Borno and Yobe State.”
