JAMB Releases 2024 UTME Results
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has given the breakdown of the results and examination of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), disclosing that a significant majority of candidates failed to secure 200 out of the total 400 marks. Out of the 1,842,464 candidates whose results were released, a staggering 78 percent, totaling 1,402,490 individuals, scored below the 200 mark.
Breakdown of Results and Top Scorers
Providing a detailed breakdown, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, highlighted that only 8,401 candidates achieved scores of 300 and above, while 77,070 candidates secured 250 and above. Additionally, 439,974 candidates scored 200 and above. Oloyede refrained from disclosing the names of top performers, emphasizing JAMB’s stance on the examination’s purpose as a ranking tool rather than a competition.
Withheld Results and Examination Centers
JAMB also disclosed that it withheld 64,624 results out of the total number of candidates pending further investigation. Despite the registration of 1,989,668 candidates, 80,810 were absent from the examination. The examination took place over six days, with 1,904,189 candidates participating. Oloyede further mentioned ongoing Direct Entry registrations and the expansion of examination centers to nine foreign locations, promoting international recognition of Nigerian institutions.
