Kolawole Advocates Patience for Tinubu’s Administration

Former Kogi Speaker Supports President’s Efforts

Prince Mathew Kolawole, the immediate past Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, has called for patience regarding President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Kolawole believes that Tinubu inherited a deeply flawed economic system and requires additional time to implement necessary reforms. He urges Nigerians to remain hopeful as the president works to rectify past mistakes and improve the nation’s economic landscape.

A Call for Unity and Understanding

In an interview in Lokoja, Kolawole emphasized the need for Nigerians to exercise patience as the president navigates the complexities of governance. He stated, “We are in a trying moment concerning the economy and the wellbeing of citizens. President Tinubu needs more time to fully settle down and address the issues we face as a nation.”

Assessment of Economic Reforms

Reflecting on the past year, Kolawole acknowledged the harsh economic reforms that have affected many citizens. He explained that these measures are part of a broader strategy designed to guide Nigeria towards recovery. The former speaker expressed confidence that Tinubu’s roadmap would ultimately lead to increased development and improved food production, alleviating hunger across the country.

Defending Former Governor Bello

Kolawole also weighed in on the ongoing situation between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello. He expressed concern for Bello, who has made significant sacrifices for the All Progressives Congress (APC). Kolawole criticized the treatment Bello is currently facing and argued that his contributions to the party, especially during the 2023 elections, warrant respect and support rather than persecution.

Challenges for Political Aspirants

Kolawole pointed out that aspiring for political positions should not lead to the kind of scrutiny that Bello is experiencing. He attributed the former governor’s current challenges to individuals in power who fear his rising political influence. He emphasized that such actions against growing politicians are counterproductive and only serve to undermine democratic principles.

Looking Ahead with Optimism

As the political landscape continues to evolve, Kolawole remains optimistic about Nigeria’s future. He believes that with time, patience, and cooperation among political actors and citizens, the nation can overcome its current economic struggles. The former speaker’s call for unity and understanding reflects a broader desire for stability and progress within the country.
