Major Transfer Completed
Bayern Munich have successfully secured the signing of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace for a fee of approximately €60 million (£50 million). The 22-year-old, who is eligible to play for France at the Under-21 level and was born in England, has signed a five-year contract with the German giants. Olise, who transferred from Reading to Crystal Palace in July 2021 for £8 million, has made 90 appearances in all competitions during his three seasons with the Eagles.
Choosing Bayern Over Premier League Interests
Earlier this summer, both Chelsea and Newcastle United expressed interest in acquiring Olise. However, the young winger opted for a move to Germany, where he will play under the guidance of Bayern’s new manager, Vincent Kompany. Olise expressed his enthusiasm about the move, stating, “I’m very happy to now be playing for such a big club – it’s a great challenge and that’s exactly what I was looking for.”

Last season, Olise made significant contributions to Crystal Palace, scoring 10 goals in 19 Premier League matches and helping the team to finish 10th in the league. Bayern Munich is also close to finalizing the acquisition of Joao Palhinha from Fulham in a deal worth £42 million plus £4 million in add-ons. Moreover, England defender Eric Dier has joined the Bundesliga club permanently after a loan spell from Tottenham Hotspur since January. These moves come after Bayern’s decade-long dominance in the German league was ended by Bayer Leverkusen last season.
