In response to the anticipated national protests, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has emphasized the necessity of restraint and constructive dialogue. His administration has expressed a readiness to peacefully engage with the citizens to discuss and address their concerns. Gboyega Akosile, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, recently outlined this approach in a statement.

Governor Sanwo-Olu affirmed the citizens’ constitutional rights to voice their concerns about the current socio-economic issues in Nigeria. He cautioned, however, about the potential for these protests to escalate into unrest, urging protestors to avoid any actions that could threaten public safety. He noted that certain elements might exploit these gatherings for their agendas, thereby disrupting peace and order.
