Federal Government Fulfills Security Promise

The Federal Government has delivered on its promise to establish a mobile police base in the Gashish community, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State. This initiative follows the tragic 2018 attack by gunmen that claimed over 200 lives and resulted in significant property damage.

Project Inauguration by SGF

The long-awaited project, which had been stalled for six years, was finally completed and inaugurated last Thursday by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Akume, represented by his Chief of Staff, Simeon Tyongu, praised the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) for executing the project.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Samuel Jatau, thanked N-HYPPADEC for the initiative. He highlighted the state government’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of all citizens and facilitate the return of displaced persons to their homes.

In his remarks, N-HYPPADEC Managing Director Abubakar Yelwa described the project as part of the commission’s Corporate Social Responsibility. He emphasized the importance of the new base in addressing security challenges in Barkin Ladi, which has experienced numerous conflicts.
