Obidient Movement Unveils New Logo at Leadership Summit in Gombe State

Gombe, Nigeria – February 27, 2025
The Obidient Movement, a grassroots political force backing Peter Obi of the Labour Party, held a vibrant leadership summit in Gombe State, North-East Nigeria, drawing hundreds of supporters to mark a new chapter in its journey.

The event, led by National Coordinator Yunusa Tanko and prominent member Dr. Mopaul, served as the platform for unveiling a fresh logo that encapsulates the movement’s core values: competence, character, capacity, credibility, and compassion.

The summit, which took place amid growing anticipation for the 2027 Nigerian general elections, showcased the movement’s enduring appeal, particularly among the youth. Attendees filled the venue, chanting slogans and waving banners adorned with the newly designed emblem—a symbol of the group’s ambition to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape. The large turnout underscored the Obidients’ reputation as a formidable force, born out of the 2023 presidential election campaign that saw Peter Obi galvanize millions with his message of reform.

Yunusa Tanko, addressing the crowd, emphasized the movement’s commitment to fostering leadership rooted in integrity and progress. “This logo represents what we stand for – a Nigeria where competence and compassion lead the way,” he said.
Dr. Mopaul echoed this sentiment, calling on young Nigerians to remain active in the democratic process and hold leaders accountable.

The Obidient Movement first rose to prominence in 2023, when it mobilized an unprecedented number of young voters, challenging the dominance of Nigeria’s traditional political heavyweights. Analysts, including those from Africa at LSE, have credited the group with reawakening political consciousness among the country’s youth, a demographic often sidelined in past elections.

Though Peter Obi did not win the presidency, the movement’s impact was undeniable, setting the stage for its continued evolution.
With the 2027 elections on the horizon, the Gombe summit signals the Obidients’ intent to refine their strategy and broaden their reach. The new logo, unveiled to cheers and applause, is a rallying cry for a movement determined to leave its mark on Nigeria’s future.

Political observers will be watching closely as this group, once dismissed as a fleeting trend, continues to build momentum.
