Lagos State Commissioner for Transport, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, confirmed the reopening in a statement, highlighting the benefits of the project.

The rehabilitation of the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge, carried out by the Lagos State Ministry of Works, began on July 22, 2024. Initially slated for 90 days, the project was completed in under two months. Osiyemi thanked Lagos residents for their patience and cooperation, acknowledging the challenges posed by the closure and the use of alternative routes.

Improved Traffic Flow Between Mainland and Island

With the bridge now reopened, Lagosians can expect improved traffic flow between the Mainland and Island. The commissioner noted that the rehabilitation will ease the movement of vehicles, particularly during rush hours, reducing congestion in the area. The government praised the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for effectively managing traffic during the rehabilitation period.
