Ossah Road Expansion: Umuahia’s Traffic Solution

Introduction

In a significant move to ease traffic congestion and improve the aesthetics of Umuahia, the government has flagged off the expansion and construction of the 3.5km 6-lane dual carriage Ossah Road. This initiative, led by Governor Alex Otti, aims to transform the road from Okpara Square to Abia Tower off the Enugu Port Harcourt expressway.

Compensation and Professional Valuers

Before embarking on this ambitious project, the government successfully negotiated and paid compensation to 130 affected property owners. Professional valuers ensured fairness in the compensation process. If any affected owners haven’t received their compensation, it’s likely due to bureaucratic issues, as we have already allocated the funds.

Partnering with Craneburg for Quality

To ensure quality, the government partnered with Craneburg. This international construction company has a solid reputation. The aim is for timely completion of the project. This collaboration ensures that the Ossah Road expansion in Umuahia meets global standards.

Future Plans

This project represents just the first phase of a larger plan to improve the road network and alleviate traffic in Umuahia. The government intends to extend the road to the Onuimo boundary of Abia State in subsequent phases.
