Peter Obi Advocates for Ethical Leadership at UNN Event

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, visited the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) on Wednesday. He chaired an event focused on ethical leadership, organised by the Strategic Contacts, Ethics and Publication (STRACEP) of the university. Peter Obi advocates for ethical leadership.

In his address, Peter Obi advocates for ethical leadership. Obi stressed the importance of integrity and uprightness in political leaders. He argued that for a nation to experience meaningful growth, it must prioritise ethical leadership. “Our leadership recruitment process, if built on sincerity and ethics, will produce upright leaders chosen by the people,” Obi said.

Moreover, Obi lamented the deep-rooted corruption and electoral malpractices that plague Nigeria. He called for a new political culture where parties are run by people of integrity. “We, as a nation, must now pursue ethical leadership at all levels of government,” he added.

During the event, Chief Ben Etiaba delivered a lecture on ethics. He highlighted the need for leaders who prioritise human dignity, respect for the rule of law, and accountability. Additionally, Her Excellency, Dame Virgy Etiaba, the first female Governor in Nigeria, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof Patrick Uchenna Okpoko received Ethical Leadership Awards.

In conclusion, Obi thanked Prof Arinzechukwu Igwe, the Vice-Chancellor of UNN, for his contributions to the institution. “With integrity and ethical leadership, we will build the New Nigeria of our dreams,” Obi affirmed.
