Strict Enforcement of Aviation Rules
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended the operations of 10 private jet operators due to their failure to initiate the recertification process. This action was detailed in a public announcement by Michael Achimugu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection.
Compliance Failures Lead to Suspensions
According to the NCAA’s statement, these suspensions stem from the companies’ violations of Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 Part 18.3.4. This regulation prohibits the use of aircraft for commercial purposes without proper certification. The companies affected include Azikel Dredging Nigeria Ltd and nine others who failed to comply by the set deadline of April 19, 2024.
Urgent Call for Recertification
The NCAA had previously mandated all private non-commercial flight permit holders to undergo a re-evaluation process. Despite this directive, the affected companies did not meet the April deadline, prompting immediate suspension of their permits.
Monitoring and Enforcement
To enforce these suspensions, NCAA officials have been stationed at General Aviation Terminals and private wings across airports to oversee the activities of these operators. The agency has made it clear that engaging these companies for commercial flights is now illegal.

The NCAA has issued a warning to the public against hiring these suspended operators for any commercial aviation activities. They also affirmed their readiness to take legal action against any violations of this directive.
