Rainstorm Ravages Miango District of Plateau State

A rainstorm in the Miango District of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State ravages the district, destroying approximately 200 houses along with a healthcare center, classrooms, business establishments, and poultry farms. No fatalities were reported despite the extensive damage caused by the storm. However, three individuals sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment, while numerous others have been left without shelter.

The Miango Youth Development Association, representing the socio-cultural interests of the district, disclosed that some of the displaced individuals have sought refuge with neighboring residents within the locality. The displacement significantly impacted the affected community members, leaving many without a place to call home, but no lives were lost.

Nuhu Nga, the association’s spokesperson, issued a statement appealing for swift intervention. They urged both NEMA and the state government for assistance. The appeal emphasized immediate relief efforts. It highlighted the importance of aiding those affected by the disaster.

Fidelis Adara, the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of the Local Government Area, assures proactive measures. The local authority is coordinating with state emergency management agency and NEMA. They aim to secure assistance for storm-affected individuals. Efforts are currently underway to alleviate the situation. The aim is to provide much-needed support and relief to the impacted residents during this challenging time.
