Civilians Targeted in Latest Russian Attack

At least six people were killed and 21 others injured in Ukraine on Monday as Russian airstrikes struck several locations. Authorities reported five fatalities in Mykolaiv and one in Zaporizhzhia. In Kryvyi Rih, President Volodymyr Zelensky’s hometown, a missile hit an apartment building, injuring seven people, including two children. Zelensky condemned the attacks, stating Russia’s ongoing assaults underscore its disinterest in peace efforts.

Russia Claims Drone Interceptions in Border Regions

Amid the strikes, Russia reported intercepting 13 Ukrainian drones near the Kursk and Belgorod regions. The Russian Defence Ministry claimed no casualties from the drone interceptions. However, Zelensky insisted that Russian aggression remains relentless, appealing for stronger international support and additional weapons to counter the attacks.

Escalating Drone Warfare Between Ukraine and Russia

Saturday saw a large-scale drone exchange between Ukraine and Russia. Russia reported intercepting 84 Ukrainian drones across six regions, including areas near Moscow. Simultaneously, Ukraine’s air force reported that Russia had launched 145 drones across its territory, with most neutralised before causing damage. This intensification marks one of the most significant drone exchanges in the conflict to date.

Trump Call to Putin Report Denied by Kremlin

The Washington Post recently reported that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump allegedly urged Russian President Vladimir Putin not to escalate the Ukraine war during a call. However, the Kremlin denied this conversation took place. Trump reportedly also spoke with Zelensky following his election win, though he has not disclosed specific plans for addressing the Ukraine crisis.

UK Reaffirms Support for Ukraine Amid Trump Speculation

Despite speculation surrounding Trump’s potential policies on Ukraine, UK Defence Secretary John Healey reaffirmed Britain’s commitment to support Ukraine. Healey stated that the UK expects the U.S. to continue standing with its allies in supporting Ukraine against Russian advances. UK officials are reportedly confident that the U.S. will maintain a steady course on Ukraine policy.

Russian Advances Reported in Kharkiv

Russian forces claimed new advances in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, capturing the village of Kolisnykivka. According to Moscow’s Defence Ministry, this gain is part of Russia’s largest territorial push since March 2022. Analysts indicate that Russia’s advances coincide with heightened military activity across both nations, as documented by the Institute for the Study of War.
