Governor Soludo used the occasion to reassure the people of Anambra that his administration is committed to eradicating cultism in the state. He vowed that no matter where the perpetrators of the Nibo incident try to hide, they will be tracked down and prosecuted. His administration has prioritised tackling criminal activities, especially cultism, which continues to claim young lives in the state.
Thirteen Lives Lost in Cult Clash
The tragic incident claimed the lives of 13 people in Nibo, as rival cult groups clashed during the community’s celebration of the New Yam festival. Soludo acknowledged that the senseless loss of life, particularly involving young people, is a devastating blow to the state. He expressed deep sorrow over the continued impact of cultism on communities across Anambra.
Calls for Community Action
Governor Soludo called on parents and community leaders to work together to combat the spread of cultism. He stressed that laws alone will not solve the problem and that community action is essential. Soludo urged residents to take a more active role in guiding young people away from the dangers of cultism, urging them to promote peace and unity in their homes and neighbourhoods.
Strengthening Anti-Cultism Measures
In addition to enforcing the state’s anti-cultism law, Soludo has ordered immediate action from security agencies to address the rise of cult violence. He assured citizens that the government would not rest until those responsible for the Nibo killings are held accountable. He also encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities to law enforcement to prevent future violence.
A Vision for a Safer Anambra
Governor Soludo reiterated his commitment to making Anambra a safer place for all. He urged residents to reflect on the tragic events and draw lessons from them. Soludo emphasised that peace and security are the responsibility of both the government and the community, and together, they can achieve a safer and more peaceful state.
