Tinubu’s First Year in Office: CUPP Expresses Dissatisfaction

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has expressed dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office. They assert Tinubu’s administration has worsened the nation’s condition, turning the promise of renewed hope into despair and increased poverty.

Evaluation of Key Sectors

CUPP’s spokesperson, Mark Adebayo, highlighted in a press conference in Abuja that Tinubu’s administration has failed to improve the economy. He emphasised that security, education, health, and infrastructure have not seen any positive changes since Tinubu took office.

Adebayo stated that, contrary to expectations, the nation’s situation has worsened over the past year under the APC government. He criticised the administration for not meeting the promises made during the campaign, leading to increased despair among citizens.

Critique of Governance and Policies

Adebayo asserted that the administration’s policies have led to increased poverty and suffering among Nigerians. He criticised the fuel subsidy removal, describing it as a thoughtless and harmful policy that worsened the country’s economic challenges.

Impact on Daily Life

The CUPP spokesperson pointed out that the cost of living has become unbearable for many Nigerians. Furthermore, he mentioned that unemployment has risen, businesses are collapsing, and more children are out of school. Consequently, these issues, he argued, have left Nigerians disillusioned and unhappy.

Response to Government Claims

Adebayo dismissed the government’s claims of success, likening it to a “the more you look, the less you see” situation. He argued that ministers’ impressive statistics don’t reflect most Nigerians’ reality, who still face significant hardships and widespread job losses.

Call for Change in 2027

Looking ahead, Adebayo emphasised the importance of making informed choices in the next election. He urged Nigerians to learn from the current situation and ensure the 2027 elections bring necessary changes to improve the country.
