UniLag Welcomes London-Lagos Solo Driver Pelumi Nubi

In a celebration of remarkable resilience and daring spirit, the University of Lagos (UniLag) warmly welcomes Pelumi Nubi, the London-Lagos solo driver, on its campus. Led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, the reception honored Nubi’s extraordinary journey and the embodiment of Nigerian resilience it represents.

Nubi, a 28-year-old travel content creator, embarked on her solo trip from London on January 30, 2024. Consequently, her adventurous expedition culminated in her arrival at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border on Sunday morning, marking the completion of her ambitious journey. Notably, Nubi’s father, Timothy Nubi, a Professor in UNILAG’s Department of Estate Management and the Founder/National Coordinator of Ideal Habitat Initiative, shared in the pride of his daughter’s accomplishment.

Addressing the gathering at the ongoing reception, Vice-Chancellor Ogunsola lauded Nubi’s feat as a testament to the resilience ingrained in the Nigerian spirit. She emphasized the courage displayed by Nubi in navigating through 17 countries, overcoming challenges, and defying potential obstacles along the way. Ogunsola invoked the legacies of historic Nigerian figures like Queen Amina of Zaria and Captain Chinyere Kalu, highlighting Nubi’s journey as another shining example of Nigerian determination and fortitude. In conclusion, Ogunsola expressed profound pride in Nubi’s achievement, declaring her an inspiration to all and a reminder that the only limits that exist are those within one’s mind.
