Vladimir Putin Warns Western Enemies Supplying Arms to Ukraine

Russia’s Threat to Supply Weapons

Russian President Vladimir Putin warns that Moscow could arm countries capable of attacking Western targets. This statement comes amid growing tensions over the West’s provision of long-range weapons to Ukraine.

Criticism of Western Actions

Putin criticised Western nations, particularly the United States, for allowing Ukraine to strike targets within Russia. He cautioned that such actions could lead to “very serious problems,” implying that Russia might retaliate by supplying similar weapons to other regions.

Response to Germany

Singling out Germany, Vladimir Putin highlighted the recent permission granted to Ukraine to use German-made weapons against Russian targets. He warned that this decision could irreparably damage Russian-German relations.

US and UK’s Stance

The US President Joe Biden has authorised Ukraine to use American-supplied weapons near the Kharkiv region but has restricted their use on Russian soil. Meanwhile, UK Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron stated that Ukraine has the right to decide how to utilise British weapons, including striking targets in Russia.

Escalation in Kharkiv

Recent reports indicate that Ukraine has used US weapons to strike inside Russia, intensifying the conflict near Kharkiv. The city, located just 30km from the Russian border, has witnessed fierce fighting due to a renewed Russian offensive.

Nuclear Warning

During his address at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, Putin also warned against underestimating Russia’s willingness to use nuclear weapons. He dismissed the notion that Russia plans to attack NATO territory, calling it “complete nonsense.”
